Rajagopal, leader of Ekta Parishad, the movement for landless people in India, was recently the keynote speaker at the European Greens’ Ideas Lab event in Brussels. We asked him about the current situation in India and how we can respond to the current challenges of globalisation, especially for younger generations. Starting at the 26th of April 2015, Ekta Parishad´s founder Rajagopal P.V. will start a fast in Bhopal to draw attention to the wrong strategy for land rights of the government. Ekta Parishad calls for more freedom and independence in Land Acquisition and Redistribution of land. Hundreds of farmers will support the warning protest.

Jai Jagat! The Yatra (foot march) of Ekta Parishad from Palwal - the place, in which Gandhi was arrested for the first time in India - to the capital New Delhi under the leadership of Rajagopal P.V., was a landmark in the struggle for Land Rights in India.

Ekta Parishad leader Ragajopal P.V brought together 5000 landless labourers, Adivasi, Dalits and marginal farmers on a Padyatra from Palwal to New Delhi. On the weekend they protested together with members of other social organizations against the Land Bill and voted for the redistribution for land. We had the opportunity to do an interview with Rajagopal P.V. on Tuesday.
