On the occasion of 6 month of agreement, a People’s Parliament has been organized on 13-14 April, jointly by Jan Satyagraha/ Ekta Parishad and National Alliance of Dalit Land Rights. On the very special occasion of birth anniversary of Dr Baba Sahab Ambedkar on 14th April, a joint call has been given to submit 2.5 million petitions for getting land rights. This joint action
was attended by 10,000 landless poor and several social organizations working on land rights. Several political leaders also came to express their solidarity with our movement.
The next step towards an Indian land rights movement on the national level will be to take the issue into the next general elections in India in the spring of 2014. Together with other land rights movements, Ekta Parishad launched here the slogan: «First land, then vote. No land, no vote.» We seek to make the urgently needed land rights a central issue in the upcoming election campaign.
